'��.� , i , '�. !! � , i. �n��ll ��rr����rr��rr�� C� �rrd �r�n� Chl� ��dr��� I� �f!�j�cC C� Ch� I��rCh ��r�lir�� ��!��i� ��c�r�� ����r �r�d n���r �� �i��l���d C� Chir� ��rCi�� From: Shaver, Larry B Sent: Tuesday, January 19, 2016 2:19 PM To: Frank Fulp �frank@scnithrowe,�ocn) �frank@scnithrowe,�ocn) <frank@scnithrowe,�ocn>; ri�k@scnithrowe,�ocn Cc: Swi�egood, Dale L<dswi�egood@n�dot,gov>; Braquet, Stephanie <s�braquet@n�dot,gov>; Wanu�ha, Dave <dave,wanu�ha@n�denr,gov>; Walla�e, Gary T <gtwalla�e@n�dot,gov> Subject: DI00106 - US 311 Environcnental Pre�onstru�tion Meeting Frank�Ri�k, The environcnental pre�onstru�tion cneeting was held onsite today for the US 311 proje�t �D100106) over Ri�kers Bran�h in Stokes County, In attendan�e were Dale Swi�egood �Resident Engineer�, Larry Shaver �Asst, Resident Engineer�, Stephanie Braquet �NCDOT Environcnental Spe�ialist�, and Dave Wanu�ha �NCDENR Environcnental Senior Spe�ialist�, Following is a sucncnary of the itecns that were dis�ussed: � The physi�al lo�ation of the proposed �ulvert was identified, � The proposed �ulvert has three barrels, the low flow �hannel being lo�ated in the �enter, The outer barrels will have a 3'sill and the sides of the streacn �hannel will be ben�hed up to this high flow elevation, The �enter barrel has a 1' sill, � The plans �all for filling the low flow barrel with native cnaterial frocn the existing streacnbed, However, sin�e the existing streacnbed is being used to �arry the streacn until water is turned into the �ulvert, this is not possible, Dave agreed that a cnixture of native cnaterial and rip rap �an be used for the high flow barrels as per plan, but preferred that the low flow barrel not be filled, Dave and Dale agreed that it would be best to �onstru�t a 5' to 10' long racnpjust behind the 1'sill of the low flow barrel to prevent a waterfall effe�t, Dave also cnentioned that the racnp will help aquati� life cnoving upstreacn, With the acnount of sand lining the banks of the existing streacn, Dave feels that the streacnbed of the low flow barrel will naturally establish itself pretty qui�kly, Dale asked if cnaterial ex�avated for the �ulvert site �ould be used for the high flow barrels, if it is socnewhat sandy, Dave felt that it should have a sandy texture and agreed, On�e �onstru�tion starts and ex�avation begins, Stephanie will return to the site to view the ex�avated cnaterial and �onfircn the texture, � The field of Par�el # 4 has an 8" drain pipe ecnpting into the �reek, Water was �onstantly flowing during the cneeting, As shown on the roadway drawing, the pipe will have to be extended when the existing �hannel is filled in, � Onsite rain gauges will be used for NPDES reporting, Stephanie asked that the NPDES reports not be signed until all inforcnation for the week had been entered, If you have any questions, please let cne know, Larry B.
