"JOEY" HOPKfNs SECRETARY • In water work moratorium from February 15th — September 30th • All in -water work activities will take place during daylight hours only. • Temporary rock causeway will be no more than 80' wide at the base and cannot take up more than 50% of the river's width at any given time. Causeway installation will not begin until October 1st • The temporary work structure will impact no more than 500 ft2 (0.011 acres) of substrate. The temporary work structures will be immediately adjacent to or in the foot print of the existing or new bridge. • Causeway will be constructed of Class II granite rip -rap (9"-23") as a base, capped with Class B granite rip -rap (5"-12"). All rip -rap must be free of clean of dirt, debris and sediment prior to installation. • If used, the temporary work bridge using 25' long spans, 30' wide with 12 H-piles per bent. The total length of the work bridge is estimated to be a max of 7 spans with two finger piers for bent removal. The total estimated number of H-piles is 108. • Siltation control fence or other stationary measures will be placed parallel to the shoreline and may not be placed waterward of the MHWL or OHWM; measures will not impede or obstruct species movement. • Turbidity curtains will only be deployed when necessary and will be anchored using non looping materials as required by the Atlantic Sturgeon PDCs to reduce the risk of entanglement. • Turbidity curtains will be shore -parallel (anchored on the shore at both ends) and may not exceed 550 feet in length; curtains must be securely anchored and will not impede or obstruct species movement. NC ZIP Turbidity curtains in combination with temporary causeways and cofferdams will not block more than 50% of the width of the river to ensure species movement is not obstructed. • Operation of any mechanical construction equipment will cease immediately if a listed species is seen within a 50-ft radius of the equipment. Project activities will not resume until the protected species has departed the project area of their own volition. • Motorized vessels operated by the bridge contractor in and around the work zone will generally operate at "idle speed/no wake" at all times while operating water depths where the draft of the vessel provides less than a 4-ft clearance from the bottom, and after a protected species has been observed in and has departed the area.
