An inspection was made of the above mine on September 2, 2022, in accordance with N.C.G.S. §74-56
of the Mining Act of 1971. In addition, the Mooresville Regional Office has received an Erosion and
Sediment Control Plan (ECPR-02-2022-39958) and a narrative for the subject site to be repurposed and
developed for residential use.
Site development has started under the Erosion and Sediment Control Plan (ECPR-02-2022-39958).
Therefore,you are released from further reclamation responsibility for this site with respect to the Mining
Act of 1971. I am returning your Assignment of Savings Account (No. 349420977) issued by Peoples
Bank in the sum of$85,100.00 to you for your disposal.

Release of Huffiman Pit#2, Mine Permit#18-08
Catawba County
Request. On August 5, 2022, Douglas B Huffman was issued a permit modification to repurpose the site.
The modification changed the sediment control plan form a mine appropriate plan to a subdevelopment
plan.
On August 16, 2022,Central Office received a signed released request from Douglas B Huffman,for
release of Huffiman Pit#2, Permit Number 18-08.
On September 2, 2022,Jesse McDonnell, Environmental Specialist I,of the Mooresville Regional Office
inspected the Huffiman Pit#2 and found the company appear to be installing the new control systems.
Area to be released is 29.92 acres.
Inspection Results.On September 2,2022 Jesse McDonnell, Environmental Specialist I, of the
Mooresville Regional Office inspected the Huffiman Pit#2 and found the company appear to be
installing the new control systems.
Decision. The site visited and the inspection report confirms that subject site is satisfactory reclaimed.
As documented in this memorandum,the Mining Program recommends release of 29.92 acres.The
amount of security was$85,100.00.The security was an Assignment of Saving from People Bank. The
security is to be returned to Douglas B Huffman.
