On March 22, 2024, the Division of Water Resources (Division) received your applicaƟon requesƟng a 401 Water Quality
CerƟficaƟon from the Division for the subject project. The Division has determined that your applica Ɵon is incomplete
and cannot be processed. The applicaƟon is on-hold unƟl all of the following informaƟon is received:

1. Thank you for providing plans showing the installaƟon of 35 feet of granite boulders along the shoreline. Please
also provide a measurement of how far these boulders or any other stabilizaƟon measures will extend into the
lake. [15A NCAC 02H .0502(a)(9)]

2. The Division requires that rip rap be installed waterward of any bulkheads to ensure that waves will not reflect
off the bulkhead and cause impacts to other shorelines along the lake. Please clarify whether the granite
boulders will be installed as a bulkhead or whether they will be leŌ loose to act like rip rap. If they will be
installed as a bulkhead, please provide measurements for the rip rap that will be placed waterward of the
structure, including the distance it will extend into the lake. [15A NCAC 02H .0502(a)(9); 15A NCAC 02H
.0506(b)(3)]

Pursuant to Title 15A NCAC 02H .0502(c), the applicant shall furnish all of the above requested informa Ɵon for the
proper consideraƟon of the applicaƟon. Please provide your response by June 7, 2024. If all of the requested
informaƟon is not received, the Division will be unable to approve the applicaƟon and it will be denied as incomplete.
The denial of this project will necessitate reapplicaƟon to the Division for approval, including a complete applicaƟon
package and appropriate fee.
