The Haw River Interceptor is a 42" sanitary sewer line that runs along the banks of the Haw River from Graham Hopedale Road in northeastern Burlington until it reaches the East Burlington Waste Water Treatment Plant. The Interceptor was installed in 1960 and is in need of replacement. The project is a phased project with construction on Phase 1 completing in January 2015 and Phase 2A completed in the summer of 2015. The design of Phase 2B and 2C are completed and Phase 2B is projected to begin construction in March 2016. Phase 2C is projected for fiscal year 2016-2017. This permitting package is intended to permit Phase 2B and 2C under the Nationwide Permit #12 and NC Water Quality Certification #3884. Phase 1 and Phase 2A had previous impacts to streams and wetlands and these impacts are summarized on the chart for Cumulative Stream and Wetland Impacts.
