I agree:
DEQ has received your Tier 1 Notification. Please see the questions and comments below.
1) What were the pH's that were reported.
2) Were these the first pH values outside of benchmark?
3) Please continue to follow the permit Tier 1 requirements for both parameters.
4) Let us know if you have questions or need our assistance.

would probably say that they need to follow the tier 1 response listed in their permit regardless ... did
they attach the pH results too? I only see TSS.
Thanks,
Katie

Hey Jerry,
Our stormwater sample taken on 3/15/24 came back with high TSS for one of our three outfalls as well as high pH at all
outfalls. I attached the report we received this week from the sampling company for reference.
We believe our TSS sample for that outfall was high due to the way the sample was taken. In order to retrieve the
sample, some rocks had to be moved because of the low water level at the outfall. Even though we waited about 10
minutes for water to flow by, it seemed to have picked up some debris from below the rocks. Our pond repair company
is stopping by next week so we can come up with a better way of taking samples at our outfall and will have it
implemented before our next sample is taken.
As for the pH levels being high, this was due to a miscalibration/misuse of our current pH monitor. A new monitor has
been ordered with the proper cleaning and calibration fluids to prevent this from happening again. We sampled our wet
pond yesterday and it had a pH of 8.2 so we are confident the issue on the 15th was with our meter.
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
The following table shows the items that need to be completed, as well as when they should be
completed. If your next sample is out of the benchmark range, you would still need to report the
exceedance as well as follow the tier 2 response listed in General Permit No. NCG03000.
