Monitoring Year 5 Supplemental Report
1.0 Introduction
The South Fork Nutrient Offset and Buffer Mitigation Bank Parcel (Parcel) Monitoring Year 5 (MY5)
Report was submitted to the North Carolina Division of Water Resources (NCDWR) on September 18,
2023. NCDWR met with Wildlands staff on November 7, 2023, to perform a MY5 on -site closeout visit.
During the site walk NCDWR determined that a small-scale supplemental planting was required, along
with brush cutting and ring sprays in one of the areas of planting. Details were included within the on -
site closeout Meeting Notes submitted to NCDWR on November 11, 2023. NCDWR issued a partial credit
release of 5% on January 161h, 2024. The remainder 5% of credits will be released when NCDWR receives
confirmation that Wildlands fully implemented the actions documented in the Meeting Notes. A list of
management actions outlined in the Meeting Notes, along with their completion date are shown in
Table 1.

2.1 Supplemental Planting
Three isolated locations were noted during the on -site closeout visit which required supplemental
planting using 1-gallon containerized trees. These locations included a 0.06-acre area at the top of UT1
and two small areas totaling 0.15 acres along SF4A. Species planted are those which were approved in
the Bank Parcel Development Package (BPDP), as well as persimmon (Diospyros virginiana), which both
the Interagency Review Team (IRT) and NCDWR approved as an alternative species. Blackberry shrubs
(Rubus sp.) were dense within the supplemental planting area at the top of UT1 and were therefore
brush cut in December 2023 prior to planting. Ring sprays were performed in April 2024 within the
supplemental planting areas along SF4A to control fescue (Festuca sp.) competition. Details on planting
quantities per location are found in Table 2. A visual depiction of the planted area can be seen in Figure
