SUBJECT: Compliance Inspection Report
Tenoever Winery WWTF
Non-discharge Permit No. WQ0040186
Durham County
Dear Permittee:
The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the Tenoever Winery WWTF on
March 13, 2024. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the
conditions and limitations specified in Non-discharge Permit No. WQ0040186. The findings and comments
noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report entitled "Compliance
Inspection Report".
Division records indicate a treatment system consisting of a 3,000-gallon baffled septic tank with effluent filter;
2,500 recirculation tank, two- 600 GPD EZ treat pods , 10 GPM dual-UV disinfection system a, 5,400-gallon
storage /dosing tank with audible/visual high-water alarms; a rain sensor; eight spray irrigation heads; a 0.6-
acre spray irrigation area; and all associated piping, valves, controls and appurtenances.
During the inspection, the following was observed:
Schedule (Section I of permit):
1. The permit expires on June 31, 2024. A renewal has been received as of March 4, 2024. This
inspection was a result of the renewal.
Performance (Section II):
2. The facility meets the performance standards and setbacks as stipulated in Section II of the permit.
Operation and Maintenance (O&M) (Section III):
3. The system was in good condition. Please continue to maintain the system in accordance to the permit.
4. The irrigation fence was in good condition. Please check the fence on a weekly basis and repair it if
needed.
Monitoring and Reporting (Section IV) and Inspections (Section V):
5. The facility is required to submit NDMR and NDAR reports on a monthly basis. None have been

received by the Division as of the date of this letter. Please submit past due reports.
6. The facility is maintained by Brantley and Sons. Maintenance records were available from the
contractor. The Contractor maintains the system for the facility.
General Conditions (Section VI):
7. The facility continues to be owned by Mr. Michael Tenoever and annual fees are paid to date. Missing
monitoring report violations were found. The contractor stated they would start submitting them. No
complaints have been reported in the past two years since the start-up of the system.
This report is a notification of the results of the compliance inspection. Within 30-days receipt of this
letter, submit a written response to this office addressing the issues noted in items 5, noted
above.
Please be aware that non-compliance with your permit could result in enforcement action by the Division of
Water Resources for these and any other violations of State law. The Raleigh Regional Office encourages you
to take all necessary actions to bring your facility into compliance. If you have questions or comments about
