For clarification, please know that the planned cleaning process is for a single use and will be conducted in conjunction with the opening of the Airports newest concourse next month. The total water usage for this cleaning operation is estimated to be between 50 and 75 gallons. The "Simple Green" application rate will be 2oz per gallon of water. This product will be pressure washed from newly installed glass and the resulting mist will likely evaporate prior to making contact with the ground. The "Goof Off' product will be applied only as needed and in small amounts. Storm drains are either too distant from the site to be impacted, or they will be protected from any potentially contaminated overspray. CLT continues to work proactively to ensure we take the necessary precautions before allowing any operations of this nature. We greatly appreciate your assistance in this matter and should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Mr. Eller, My thoughts are that you may need to complete a Biocide 101 form for the new cleaning products. You may need this for your permit renewal. He told me that you would be the person to communicate with concerning cleaners, their resulting washwater, and how they may impact our permit compliance. We've received a request from a vendor here at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, to use the products "Simple Green All -Purpose Cleaner" and "Goof Off Gunk & Adhesive Remover" (see SDS sheets attached) in an outdoor application. Best Management Practices (BMPs) such as minimizing the amount of cleaner used and directing the washwater into gravel or grass, would be adhered to. Our NPDES Permit #NC0083887 (attached) allows for washing to take place as long as BMPs are followed, the resultant washwater would be biodegradable, and the pH of the washwater would be between 6 and 9 standard units (part VII Page 5 of 5, Section Q. My question is, given the cleaners used and the BMPs in place, would this be allowed under our current permit? I welcome your direction in this matter. Thank you,
