PART IV - EVALUATION AND RECOMIENDATIONS
The County proposes to construct a water treatment system
consisting of iron removal filters and a zeolite softening
system with brine recharge for the treatment of groundwater.
The receiving stream, which is classified Class SA, appears to
be tidal and saline at the proposed point of discharge. The
stream is also designated by the Division of Marine Fisheries
as a Primary Nursery Area. The salinity of the stream at the
proposed point of discharge is not supplied in the application
package. Anticipated chloride concentration levels in the
discharge are also not supplied.
It is recommended that the applicant be requested to supply
chloride concentration data for Stones Creek at the proposed
point of discharge and at the mid point between the discharge
point and the mouth of the stream at Stones Bay. It is further
recommended that the applicant be requested to supply
anticipated chloride concentration data for the discharge.
Upon receipt of this data, it should be submitted to The
Division of Marine Fisheries for their review and comments. If
favorable recommendations are received from DMF, it is
recommended that a permit be drafted containing standard
limits and conditions for the discharge of water treatment
system backwash water.
