Hayes 40358 Palmerville Road, New London, NC STABILIZATION IMPACT AREA CALCULATIONS The attached shoreline site plan shows 250 LF of proposed shoreline stabilization measures. Detail 13 indicates a proposed shoreline condition that has a near vertical slope (1:1) and reflects the estimated normal pool level and the estimated height of the subject shoreline above the normal pool level. The applicant proposes that no grading or excavation of thr• shoreline will occur, only placement of underlying filter fabric, large boulders, and rip rap. Due to the proposed use of large boulders and assumed face slope of 1.5:1 has been assumed to calculate the impacts. Calculation 1— Impact Area Below Normal Pool Level (Item 8 on NCDEQ Form SSGP 09-2020) Area of Impact = Shoreline Length- x Depth* x Slope = (250') x (1') x (1) = 250 sq. ft. on the face of the shoreline slope *For this calculation, an average water depth of 1 ft. has been assumed. This will produce a conservative overestimate of the stabilization impact area. Area of Impact on the lake bottom is calculated by the height of the shoreline at and the 1.5:1 slope on the face of the stabilization. Area of Impact = Shoreline Length x Height* x Slope (L x H x 1.5) + (L x H x 1.5) _ (125' x 7' x 1.5) + (125'x 9' x 1.5) 1,313 + 1,688 = 3,001 sq. ft. on the lake bottom Total Impact Area Below Normal Pool = 3,251 sq. ft. Calculation 2 — Impact Area Above the Normal Pool Level (Item 9 on NCDEQ Form SSGP 09-2020) Permanent Impact From Shoreline Stabilization Measures Height of Bank Above Normal Pool Varies Across the Shoreline Estimate 125 LF of Shoreline = 7 ft. Above Normal Pool Estimate 125 LF of Shoreline = 9 ft. Above Normal Pool (These lengths and heights were used in the calculation above for the permanent impact area on the lake bottom) Impact From Construction Above Shoreline Stabilization Assume 10 ft. Wide Zone Area of Impact = 250' x 10 ft. = 2,500 sq. ft.
