Sorry to ask more questions. Can you provide me the SAW Action ID for the permit authorizing the work at Mann Harbor Shipyard? And, I assume the Action ID for the dredging at Southdock is SAW-2017-00407. Please confirm. Right now, I agree with your plan to accomplish the Southdock dredging ASAP, and I don't anticipate a problem with moratorium relief, but I need to review the files, and the SAW Action IDs will help me track the files down. For our projects in Division 1 Kyle Barnes is our Corps Regulatory rep and he prefers we coordinate with the resource agencies directly prior to requesting authorization from them. In other Divisions our Corps/DWR/CAMA reps do coordinate with the resource agencies after we make the request. It's how it's always been during my time with NCDOT but happy to have further conversations on consistency if you would like us to. USACE Regulatory normally coordinates with us on requests for moratorium relief from permit holders. We normally get these requests from the USACE since it is their permit authorizing work. Have you asked the USACE for relief from the moratorium? Pace On Tue, Apr 2, 2024 at 8:33 AM Doliber, Brian C <bcdoliber&ncdot.gov> wrote: Good morning Fritz and Pace, The NC DOT Ferry Division is requesting moratorium relief from April 8 to July 31, 2024 to perform maintenance and repair on pile clusters at the Manns Harbor Shipyard and complete maintenance dredging in the Southdock ferry basin. Moratorium relief was previously granted for the maintenance and repair of the Shipyard piles through the end of April 2024. Work on the piles is still planned for this month, but repairs to the NC DOT Dredge Manteo are expected to be completed within the next week and the shoaling in the basin at Southdock has become critical. The entrance to the basin is severely pinched and removing the material is necessary to provide safe and reliable travel from Hatteras to Ocracoke. Therefore, as soon as the dredge is ready, the NC DOT Marine Maintenance Unit plans to stop work at the Shipyard and tow the dredge to Southdock to address the shoaling. Once that work is completed there, they would return to the Shipyard and complete the piling work. While neither project would take more than a month to complete under perfect conditions the dates provided in this request would allow for the flexibility needed to account for weather, mechanical issues, changes in project schedules, and any other unforeseen circumstances. Please let me know if you have any questions.
