EnergyUnited of Statesville, North Carolina plans to relocate a span of a distribution power line located in
Mooresville (Iredell County), North Carolina. The planned facilities must be relocated due to a NCDOT
project. Description of this project and a reference map showing the proposed location is enclosed.
In order to expedite securing the Duke Energy crossing permit, we would appreciate your written comments
concerning this work within thirty (30) days. Received comments will be included in a Duke Energy Crossing
Permit.

Proposed Distribution Line Relocation on Cornelius Road (NCDOT Iredell B-5142):

This project involves the relocation of a 12.47/7.2kV Distribution Line. This relocation is due to the
construction of a new bridge on Cornelius Road, by the NCDOT. As shown in the attached diagram the
existing distribution line is located on the east side of the bridge. The proposed line will be installed on
the west side of the existing bridge. The proposed line will take the place of an existing fiber/cable line,
which is also shown on the diagram. The existing fiber/cable line will be removed and new fiber/cable will
be installed on the proposed distribution line as underbuild. Once the proposed relocation is complete
there will only be one power line crossing over Lake Norman, instead of the current two lines. The
consolidation of the power and fiber/cable lines should lessen the environmental impact caused to the
lake and surrounding areas.
