HomeMy WebLinkAbout20071392 Ver 1_Emails_20151216 Strickland, Bev From:Haupt, Mac Sent:Wednesday, December 16, 2015 1:22 PM To:Tugwell, Todd SAW; 'Hughes, Andrea W SAW' Subject:Cat Creek Ok, guys here’s my two cents… The positives: 1.The stream section is a very small percentage of the total project, 2.It appears to have stable nick points above and below the length that had cut down, 3.There is a lot of veg on the banks, rooting depth will help as time goes on, 4.More than likely occurred because of a high pressure hydro year The negatives: 1.The percent affected area of the reach is 16% (200 lf /1276 restored lf-did not include the EII footage) 2.The percent change in x-sectional area appears to be 20-25% 3.Result related to design issue (era of light touch) without much structure or pattern (although probably did not have the space for pattern between the confluence of the two streams) Will it get worse? I don’t think so… Should it be repaired? I would not go in and repair… Should Credit be removed? I would say no…however, I would have to say that DMS should have acknowledged that this was a problem area and something to watch Should they be required to monitor? Yes, they should do a couple of cross sections in this area now, and compare at the same point next year (if it shows its growing they need to either repair or have credit taken away).
