Description of review activities, field surveys, results, and conclusions: Review of HPO quad maps, HPO GIS information, historic designations roster, and indexes was undertaken on December 17, 2021. Based on this review, there are undocumented properties over fifty years of age within the Area of Potential Effects, which follows the boundary of the Study Area. An Historic Architecture Survey was required and performed August of 2022 to evaluate the Ramsey Farmstead (MD0318). From this report, the Ramsey Farmstead was determined not eligible. The State Historic Preservation Office requested additional information in October 2022. A report addendum was submitted and reviewed by SHPO in March of 2023 and SHPO concurred with our finding that there are no individually eligible resources nor a district within the project area. No Historic Resources are present. If design plans change, additional review will be required. PA 21-12-0010, Madison County, ER 22-2162 Thank you far your September 1, 201_"__ memorandum transmitting the above -referenced report_ We Lace reviewed the report and offer the following comments_ The consultant does not provide enough information to determine the National Register of Historic Places eligibility for the Ramsey Farmstead CMM319). The resources that comprise the Ramsey Farmstead should be evaluated as a district, rather than the eligibility of the individual resources. The provided Comparables focus an individual resource types from different farm complexes rather than fidl farm complexes or rural crossroad communities. Please evaluate the Ramose' Farmstead in comparison to other local Crossroadslfarm complexes comprised of two or more houses, historic outbuildings. and a resource that served as a local gathering space. This could be a countn- stare. school. cLaoch. ar even a mill. Please note that the report uses the Riddle- Ras House and Farm CvE)DD33) as a comparable, but incorrectly states that A was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It was determined eligible for listing at that time. but not nominated- The property was considered far placement an the State Study List in 2D20 and ultimately rejected at National Regster Advisory Committee due to extensive renovations to the house. It is therefore no longer Considered an eligible property.
