Hi Matthew,
Thank you for providing the drone photos and ground truthing that note about plot 27, that is much
appreciated. I agree that plot 27 looks good, and I would just ask to note the herbicide drift in the MY3
monitoring report and if any planted stems were affected and if any adaptive management or easement
boundary enhancement is needed in this area.
Seeing as all comments on the MY2 report have been addressed, the report is officially approved. Please
provide confirmation of bond renewal through next year's monitoring period. DWR approves a 20%
reduction in bond amount to $60,000. Once DWR receives your bond renewal, we can proceed issuing
the credit release for this task.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Andrew,
After checking with the monitoring crew and making a trip down to verify, we are unsure what prompted
that note on the Plot 27 data sheet. It appears to have been made in error. I've attached two photos
taken this week of Plot 27. As you can see there is no sign of mowing, though I do see some herbicide
drift which occurred in the last 30 days.
I apologize for the confusion the note caused and we will try to keep an eye out for things like that in the
future before they get passed along.
Thanks,
Matthew Harrell

Hi Matthew,
Thank you for responding to the comments and providing the height and vigor data for this site. Overall, most
plots look pretty good.
However, on the data sheet for Plot 27 there is an area labelled as "mowed", and stem G which is in the marked
area is shown as newly missing. The response to DWR comment 1 states that no encroachments were found on
the site. Can you explain what is going on with this plot?

Andrew,
I just uploaded a final version of the Dead Tree Phase A MY2 monitoring report to Laserfiche which
includes comment responses and the requested additional data.

Subject: Monitoring Report MY2 Review - Dead Tree Phase A
Hi Matthew,
DWR has completed the review of Dead Tree Phase A and have the following comments:
1. A requirement for an easement boundary check to be performed every year is noted in
section 5.2 but does not seem to be included in the monitoring report. Include this
information as a response to this comment and make sure that this information is
included in all future monitoring reports even if no encroachments were observed — it is
recommended that this information be included as a stand-alone section either within,
before or after "Parcel Maintenance".
2. No stem height or vigor data is included in this report, despite being required as per the
relevant BPDP Section 5.1 which states "Species Composition, height, and survival rates
will be evaluated on an annual basis by plot". RS needs to submit the missing data in
response to this comment. DWR will accept the CVS Vegetation Monitoring Data (VIVID)
datasheets with raw data to meet this requirement. It is not required to export vigor and
height into tables.
3. Section 5.1 states that 46 out of 49 plots are meeting the success criteria. This is
incorrect, as it is only true for the density success criteria of 260 stems/acre and does not
take into account the diversity criteria. Only 41 of the 49 plots are meeting all of the
vegetation success criteria. Failing diversity success criteria will not always result in the
necessity for an AMP, but it is data that is required to be recorded and acknowledged as a
performance standard to accurately reflect the site characteristics.
4. Of the 8 plots failing one of the success criteria, the 3 that are newly failing in MY2 are
19, 35, and 44. Is another AMP being considered to address the trajectory of these plots
meeting success criteria?
5. Additionally, plots failing density requirements of 260 stems/acre are not specified in
Figure 2. Make sure to color code which plots are failing density success criteria in Figure
2 in all future monitoring reports.
Thank you for your attention to these comments. Please provide an adequate response to all items above along
with supporting documents if required.
Once DWR receives a response to the comments above, issuance of monitoring report approval and credit
release can be determined. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Best,
