The Town of Drexel is in receipt of the above NOV and as required by your letter, our response to the violation
is as follows:
On the date of the violation, January 9, 2024, rainfall exceeding 7 inches in less than 24 hours was recorded at
the lift station located at 524 Bryant Road. Attached is a log sheet recording the rain gage at the station. This
extreme weather event caused high water levels of Howard Creek which overtook its banks around the lift station.
Town of Drexel staff worked diligently to pump down the waters and prevent adverse environmental effects. A
public notice was issued to local media outlets.
Given the abnormal amount of rain, very little could be done to prevent this violation and town crews cleaned up
the affected area after levels returned to normal. All equipment on the lift station was functioning properly and
staff responded to high level alarms within 30 minutes.
