Hites, Jr. Town Manager Julia Freeman, Mayor Pro Tem Martha Bradley, Town Attorney Clarence “Chuck” Dickson, Alderman Jon Feichter, Alderman Anthony Sutton, Alderman 4/2/2024 QUARTERLY CONSTRUCTION UPDATE As required by SOC Section 2(b)8 Headworks: All equipment for the new headworks has been put in place. The electrical to connect the equipment is underway. The electrical gear is still not on site but appears to be still on schedule to be delivered this summer. This equipment was the equipment with the longest lead time. Bypass: The final tie in for the bypass to take the secondary clarifiers out of service, was completed on 3/28/2024. We are now directing flow from the aeration basin to the primary clarifiers, using those as secondary treatment. All flow from the current head works has been directed to the aeration basin, such as a package plant would operate. Harper Construction is anticipating work on the secondary clarifiers to be completed in 5 months at maximum. Secondary Clarifiers: Work has started on the secondary clarifiers. The new chain and flight system will be added to the basins. This will give us much better sludge removal. The additional detention time from the added wall height will hopefully eliminate the problems we had in the past. Belt filter press: The rehab on the belt filter press is complete. The press is running well, being operated 16 hours a day on most days, to stay caught up with the sludge. Overall: Harper is making great progress on the upgrade. They are well ahead of schedule as of right now.
