Karen,
I will be mailing a Riparian Buffer Authorization Form as instructed to you at your address that is indicated at
the bottom of that form. This is the first one of these we have done so as you can see from the e mail chain
below we enlisted the help of James Graham to guide us on it who, once we got to the application phase, guided
us to Cherri Smith.
From Cherri’s guidance we think we have everything as it needs to be but obviously if we do not, let us know
what we are missing, and we will provide it promptly. I did not know if it is helpful or not for me to also send
1
this application and associated information in an email to you but I’m going on the idea that too much is better
than not enough.

Gill,
It looks like you’ve got everything now. I’m not sure if this applies to this particular project or not, but for future
reference, if you’re going to remove existing impervious surface from Zone 2, that area can be subtracted from the square
footage of impact you’re requesting.
Please send three copies of the application and plot plan to the address indicated at the bottom of the application. Thank
you.

Cherri,
This information helps a great deal and we are most appreciative of your help.
First, my apologies, Rick had provided me with the plot plan that you mention below and I neglected to attach it
with the information I originally sent to James. It is now attached. Rick has also now filled out Section C.1.
Buffer Impacts. An updated Application Form including that is also attached. I also attached the two items that
I think are needed that I originally attached so that everything would be in one place, in case that makes things
easier for you.
We think we have provided what is needed now but are aware that we may not have. It’s our first time doing
this so we are extremely appreciative of the help you have given us. If we are missing anything, please advise
and we will provide it promptly as best we can.
Thanks again and we look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Gill,
James asked that I get back to you regarding your application for 2517 Kenmore Drive. The most important information
for your application is to indicate how much riparian buffer impact you will have for this project, and I didn’t see that
anywhere. You need to include a plot plan of the existing house, the proposed impacts to Zone 2 of the riparian buffer,
and the two zones of the riparian buffer need to be shown on the plan. I’ve included a brief ½ page guidance document
to assist you with the requirements for this plan. Section C.1. Buffer Impacts in the application needs to be filled out. I’m
assuming there will just be impacts in Zone 2 (outer 20 feet of the buffer).
The Riparian Buffer Authorization that you get for this project will be a requirement for obtaining a building permit from
the City of Raleigh. This Authorization will have the square footage of impact indicated. The City of Raleigh will then go
back and check to make sure that the project didn’t exceed the square footage of riparian buffer that you have
authorization to impact and that it’s the same as what’s indicated on the plot plan.
I hope this information helps.

James,
Thank you again for all your help with this project. Rick asked me to forward you our application for the
Riparian Buffer for this job to see if you would take a look at it to see if we had it filled out correctly, etc. I also
attached the Recorded Map and the NC General Warranty Deed as I think these are needed. Thanks to your tip
about Acme Mapper I found, printed and have attached the Topo map asked for in 3b. You had indicated that
you thought you guys could help us out with the Soil Survey asked for in 3c.
I know that we will need the Agent Authorization Form as Rick will be the signer of this application. I have
sent that form to the homeowner for their signature and will have that as soon as they send that back to me. So,
we think we have this filled out as it needs to be but realize that quite possibly we have not and thank you in
advance for your guidance on what we might me be missing or what we need to be doing different.
