Martin, Governor William W. Cobey, Jr., Secretary DIVISION OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT WATER QUALITY SECTION May 5, 1992 Mr. Steve Rohaly, Executive Manager Pine Mountain Property Owners Association Route 1, Box 205 Connelly Springs, North Carolina 28612 Subject: Effluent Limitations Pine Mountain Lakes Burke County Dear Mr. Rohaly: Ann B. Orr Regional Manager The Asheville Regional Office recently received the effluent limitations proposed for Pine Mountain Lakes Development's new wastewater discharge permit. A copy of those limitations is attached. The proposed effluent restrictions differ from existing limits as follows: Parameter Existing Limitation Proposed Limitation Fecal Coliform 1000 organisms/100 ml 200 organisms/100 ml The fecal coliform limit change is due to a more restrictive water quality standard which became effective on October 1, 1989. Review of Pine Mountain Lake Development's data for the period April, 1991 through March, 1992 suggested that compliance with the new coliform limitation would not require equipment or operational modifications. Your attention to this item is appreciated. Please contact me at telephone 704-251-6208 if there are questions concerning the proposed wastewater discharge permit. Sincerely, James James R.
