Grass swales have been incorporated in roadside ditches, where possible, to reduce the velocity and promote the infiltration of runoff. Riprap at pipe outlets, ditches, and streambanks has been incorporated to minimize erosion on slopes where vegetation will not be adequate. NCDOT standards for ground cover, vegetation, and slope stabilization will be adhered to during the life of this project, and will be specified in the NCDOT Erosion and Sediment Control Plan for the project.
