The Kings Mountain project is a lithium mine facility that operated from the 1940s through the the mid-1980s.
y Albemarle U.S., Inc is evaluating the feasibility of restarting the Kings Mountain mine. This permit request is for a
temporary discharge permit for the dewatering of the former mine pit and does not include future mining activities
3 or future discharges associated with mining activities.

INTRODUCTION
This memorandum is prepared in support of a NPDES application to document the existing
environmental permits at the Albemarle Lithium Project (Project) in Kings Mountain, North Carolina as
an attachment to section 6 on Form 1 of the application.
PERMITS
While the proposed temporary discharge of pit water is a one-off and will be under a new NPDES Permit,
there are other existing environmental permits associated with the Kings Mountain Facility. These
