1. Previous Comments:
6: Supplement-EZ, Cover, Line 4— The surface water area provided in this line should
match the project area provided in the Application Section IV, 6.

9: Per the calculations provided on Sheet C5.1, the velocity of the roadside ditch 24 and
swales 32 and 33 exceed the allowable velocity. This would result in erosion during the
10-year storm. Per 15A NCAC 02H.1003 (2) (c) (ii), the conveyance shall be designed so
that it does not erode during the peak flow from the10-year storm.
Using the values provided in the swale table, calculations, and on the plans, the actual
velocities of roadside ditch 24 and swale 32 seem to exceed the allowable velocity for the
10 year storm, which does not met the requirements of 15A NCAC 02H .1003 (2) (c) (ii),
15A NCAC 2H .1003(2)(d)(i), and 15A NCAC 2H .1003(5). Equations were presented in
the design calculations, but individual swale calculations were not provided. If another
method was used to find the actual velocities of these swales which meets the allowable
velocities, please provide. Otherwise, the design of the swales will need to be revised.
