As per NCDEQ's April 27, 2023 ADI letter, a one-time sampling event for the pollutants not previously sampled on EPA's Form 2D tables A, B, C and D has been included as this attachment to Form 2D. Samples were collected at various depths in the Pit Lake to provide a complete profile of the water column. On Form 2D, analytical results from samples taken at a depth of 15011 were entered into tables A, B, C, and D. These results do not take into account any mixing or dilution that would occur during withdrawal and are representative of only a small section of the total volume. Table 1 shows the percentage of Pit Lake Volume that each of the depths represent. The remainder and majority of the discharge will have lesser values as you can see the following data summary tables. Table 1. OTHER INFORMATION (40 CFR 122.21(h)(7)) Samples in Section 4 reflect expected discharge quality; the samples were taken from the Pit Lake, not the outfall point. Water quality of the discharge water contained within Pit Lake does not exceed Class C aquatic water standards (See Engineering Alternative Analysis Attachment). The attached Kings Creek Stability and Water Quality Assessment demonstrates that minor increases in flow due to the mine pit dewatering is not expected to adversely impact the banks of Kings Creek and is not expected increase flood or adversely affect elevations beyond the subject property lines. Based on the attached Engineering Alternatives Analysis, direct discharge to Kings Creek is deemed the most environmentally sound alternative of the economically viable alternatives for dewatering Pit Lake. The dewatering configuration under consideration is conveyance of pit water to the South Creek Reservoir prior to discharging to Kings Creek. The attached Plan Sets show the facility and proposed aboveground pipeline will run from the pit to South Reservoir along existing roads with no additional ground disturbance.
