2. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTACTING "ONE CALL" AND ALL NON-MEMBER UTILITY OWNERS IN
THE PROJECT AREA AT LEAST 72 HOURS PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY. ALL EXISTING UTILITIES ARE
NOT SHOWN ON THESE PLANS, AND THE LOCATIONS OF UTILITIES SHOWN MAY HAVE BEEN ESTIMATED. IT IS THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE THE EXACT LOCATIONS OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES AND TO

NC PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR. SHOULD ANY CONFLICTS OR OTHER PROBLEMS EXIST, IT IS THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE AND AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTION
PRIOR TO COMMENCING CONSTRUCTION ON THE PROJECT.
5. GROUND COVER (TEMPORARY SEEDING, PERMANENT SEEDING, MULCH OR GRAVEL SURFACE) SHOULD BE
ESTABLISHED IN 15 WORKING DAYS OR 21 CALENDAR DAYS, WHICHEVER IS SHORTER.
6. THE CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SECURITY AND SAFETY RELATED TO THE PROJECT.
7. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTING ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTIES FROM DAMAGE
RELATED TO CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES. ANY DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REPLACED AT
THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL, AT HIS EXPENSE, FURNISH ALL FILL, SELECT BACKFILL, BORROW, SPECIAL BEDDING
AND OTHER MATERIALS AND DISPOSE OF ALL WASTE AND EXCESS MATERIALS OFF-SITE AS NECESSARY FOR THE
PROPER COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL STRIP ALL TOPSOIL AND SOD AND STOCKPILE AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER'S
REPRESENTATIVE. THE STOCKPILED TOPSOIL SHOULD BE RELATIVELY FREE OF WOOD, ROCK, LARGE ROOTS OR
OTHER OBJECTIONABLE MATERIALS. EXCESS TOPSOILS SHALL BE DISPOSED OF OFF THE OWNER'S PROPERTY BY
THE CONTRACTOR AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.
10. ALL EARTH SLOPES SHALL BE A MAXIMUM OF1.5 HORIZONTAL TO 1.0 VERTICAL OR FLATTER AND ALL
EARTHWORK SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER MADE
DURING CONSTRUCTION.
11. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LIMITING ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES TO AREAS WITHIN THE
LIMITS OF CONSTRUCTION SHOWN, THE OWNER'S PROPERTY AND APPLICABLE RIGHT-OF-WAYS, AND TO
PROTECT ALL TREES TO BE SAVED AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
12. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SCHEDULING AND COORDINATING ALL SITE VISITS BY THE DESIGN
TEAM AND OWNER FOR REQUIRED INSPECTIONS. SECURITY AND SAFETY OF OPEN TRENCHES AND OTHER
EXCAVATIONS IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
14. ENTIRE AREA TO BE GRADED SHALL BE CLEARED AND GRUBBED. NO FILL SHALL BE PLACED ON ANY AREA
NOT CLEARED AND GRUBBED.
15. ALL SOIL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES REQUIRED SHALL BE INSTALLED AFTER CLEARING AND GRUBBING
AND PRIOR TO STRIPPING AND GRADING. ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES SUCH AS SILT FENCES, BALES OF
STRAW, ETC., SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN WORKABLE CONDITIONS FOR THE LIFE OF THE PROJECT AND SHALL
BE REMOVED AT THE COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT WHEN STABLE. IF DURING THE LIFE OF THE PROJECT A
STORM CAUSES SOIL EROSION WHICH CHANGES FINISH GRADES OR CREATES "GULLIES" AND "WASHED AREAS",
THESE SHALL BE REPAIRED, AND ALL SILT WASHED OFF OF THE PROJECT SITE ONTO ADJACENT PROPERTY
SHALL BE REMOVED AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ADHERE TO
ANY APPROVED EROSION CONTROL PLANS WHETHER INCLUDED IN THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS OR UNDER
SEPARATE COVER.
16. IN THE EVENT EXCESSIVE GROUND WATER OR SPRINGS ARE ENCOUNTERED WITHIN THE LIMITS OF
CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL NECESSARY UNDER DRAINS AND STONE AS DIRECTED BY A
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER.
