Typical Cross Section Description: Two 10.0' paved travel lanes with 2.3' paved shoulders at bridge. Two 9.0' paved travel lanes. Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hrlday): I Design/Future: 1 610 1 Year: 12043 1 Existing: 1 500 1 Year: 1 2023 General Project Narrative: The project involves the replacement of Bridge No. 740013 over North Pacolet River on SR 1128 (Howard Gap Rd) in Polk County. The proposed 100' long by 27' wide (24" cored (Description of Minimization of Water slab) two -span bridge would replace the existing 69.2' long by 20.1' wide (timber deck on steel I-beam) two -span bridge at the existing location. The proposed grade will be Quality Impacts) approximately 0.3' above the existing grade. The proposed bridge will have no direct discharge into North Pacolet River. Deck drains on the bridge are proposed, however no deck drains are proposed overwater. Stormwater runoff from the proposed bridge will flow to inlets on the north end of the bridge. All proposed stormwater runoff will be discharged as far away from the stream and at the lowest velocities as practicable. Project minimum measures include: >Maximizing shoulder section. >Providing adequate ground cover. >Stabilizing embankments and drainage ditches. >Providing adequate energy dissipation. >Utilizing natural features and drainage pathways - Existing drainage pathways were utilized to the maximum extent practicable.
