ISW Tier Notification
Dear Mr. Kahn,
As directed by Part D., Section D-6 and D-7 of Stormwater Permit NCS000571, a notification is required
to the Mooresville Regional Office of sample results over benchmark. Results over benchmark were
received on 2/9/2024 for a sampling event of stormwater outfalls SW004 and SW016-42 that occurred
on 1/25/2024.
Tier Two status for Selenium was triggered at SW016-42 by the sample result shown in the table below.
Additionally, benchmark exceedances resulted for Zinc at SW004 and Copper, Mercury, and TSS at
SW016-42.These parameters are currently under a Tier Three status with the Action Plan still under
implementation.

During the stormwater management inspection for SW004, it was noted that the drainage area contains
a switchyard with a galvanized tank and structural steel that could be contributing to the exceedances.
During the stormwater management inspection for SW016-42 it was noted that the drainage area
contains heavy truck traffic.The Haul Road Action Plan to improve BMP measures and upgrade the haul
road is still under implementation.
