PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that Ray F. Ward
(443 Old Watauga River Rd., Sugar Grove, NC
28679) has applied to the North Carolina Division
of Water Resources (DWR) for a 401 Water Quality
Certification, pursuant to Section 401 of the Feder-
al Clean Water Act and Title 15A NCAC 02H .0500.
The certification is required as part of the Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) relicensing
process that, if approved, would allow for contin-
ued operation of the Ward Mill hydroelectric dam
on the Watauga River in Watauga County. The
DWR must take final action on the application pri-
or to November 16, 2015
The public is invited to comment in writing to the
DWR on the application described above. Com-
ments should be mailed to the NC Division of Wa-
ter Resources, Attn: Jennifer Burclette, 1617 Mail
Service Center, Ralei?,h, NC 27669-1617, faxed to
919-807-6394, or emai ed to jennifer.burdette@ncd
enr.gov. Comments must be received by DWR no
later than close of business on October 17, 2015.
