Ar� SUMMARY
Facility Description: Mallard Creek Polymers is located at 2800 Morehead Road in Charlotte, NC on two parcels,which
total approximately 65 acres.The facility recently added a storage building to the facility on the second parcel. Mallard
Creek Polymers manufactures a variety of latex polymer products.
File Review/History: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (CMSWS)previously inspected the facility on 2/18/2
021 and the report was issued as satisfactory. The facility received NOVs relating to two separate spills on 2/23/2022 and
2/14/2023.
Inspection Summary: Mallard Creek Polymers was observed to be in compliance with the City of Charlotte Stormwater
Pollution Control Ordinance. Please refer to the report for comments and recommendations.

Site Inspection Deficiency Comments
Stormwater system (catch basins, Satisfactory Stormwater flows through the site via sheet flow. The facility
inlets, outfalls, etc.) has four SCMs which receive sheet flow from different areas
of the site and stormwater discharges via four outfalls. No
stormwater pollution issues were observed.
Erosion issues Satisfactory No stormwater erosion issues were observed.
Structural stormwater control Satisfactory Four SCMs were observed onsite. Per facility staff,the SCMs
measures(SCMs) act as additional containment in case of a spill at the facility.
No stormwater pollution issues were observed.
Illicit discharges/connections Satisfactory No illicit discharges or connections were observed onsite
during the inspection.
Aboveground storage tank(s)(ASTs) Satisfactory The facility has many ASTs throughout the facility.A
and any associated venting and/or complete list of AST contents, locations, sizes, and
dispenser(s)—list tank size(s)and containment can be found in the the SWPPP and SPCC. No
contents stormwater pollution issues were observed.

Outdoor material storage area(s) Satisfactory 275-gallon totes and 55-gallon drums of assorted polymer
products were observed to be kept sealed and labeled
outdoors.Assorted equipment, scrap metal, and wood pallets
were observed to be kept outdoors uncovered. No stormwater
pollution issues were observed.
Outdoor processing area(s) Satisfactory The facility's manufacturing process occurs in outdoor and
indoor areas throughout the facility. No stormwater pollution
issues were observed.
Loading/unloading area(s) Satisfactory Per facility staff, liquid products are loaded and unloaded from
tanker trucks in designated areas of the site. No stormwater
pollution issues were observed.

Vehicle/equipment area(s)-fueling, Satisfactory Per facility staff, equipment maintenance is completed inside
maintenance,washing, storage, etc. the facility. Fueling is conducted outside at the onsite diesel
fuel AST.Vehicles and equipment are stored outdoors. No
vehicle or equipment washing is conducted onsite. No
stormwater pollution issues were observed.
Oil/water separator and/or Satisfactory Per facility staff,the facility has an industrial wastewater
pretreatment pretreatment system and permit with Charlotte Water. Once
treated and tested, onsite wastewater can be discharged to
the Charlotte Water sanitary sewer system. No stormwater
pollution issues were observed.
Waste storage/disposal area(s)- Recommendation Two general waste open top containers and one scrap metal
open tops,waste containers, scrap open top container were observed to be kept uncovered
metal bins, etc. outdoors. CMSWS recommends all outdoor waste containers
are kept covered to prevent stormwater exposure.

Indoor material storage area(s) Satisfactory Assorted supplies and equipment for manufacturing were
observed to be stored inside the facility. No stormwater
pollution issues were observed.
Indoor processing area(s) Satisfactory The facility manufacturing process occurs in indoor and
outdoor areas throughout the facility. No stormwater pollution
issues were observed.
Floor drains Satisfactory Per facility staff,floor drains inside the facility discharge to
the wastewater treatment system. No stormwater pollution
issues were observed.
