This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NC0042358. The findings and comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report entitled "Compliance Inspection Report". There were no significant issues or findings noted during the inspection and therefore, a response to this inspection report is not required. This inspection was conducted to determine whether the facility is being operated and maintained in compliance with NPDES Permit No. NC0042358. Mr. Paul Isenhour (ORC) was present and assisted with the inspection. Overall, the facility is well maintained and operated. All items noted on the previous inspection had been addressed and corrected. Since the previous inspection, a new flow meter has been installed as well as a new composite sampler. The following items were noted during the inspection: 1) Operations and Maintenance- The ORC visitation log had last been updated about a month prior to the inspection. It is recommended to keep the visitation log current and up to date. 2) Secondary Clarifier- There was some algae and vegetation present on the weirs at the time of the inspection. It is recommended that the weirs be hosed off regularly to keep them clean. NC0042358 17 (Cont.) Is scum removal adequate? Is the site free of excessive floating sludge? Is the drive unit operational? Is the return rate acceptable (low turbulence)? Is the overflow clear of excessive solids/pin floc? Is the sludge blanket level acceptable? (Approximately ¼ of the sidewall depth) Some vegetation growth was noted on the weir. Additionally, a thin blanket of leaves was present on the surface of the clarifier. Mr. Isenhour noted that potable water is not present on-site and that they have a pump that they draw from the clarifier to hose down the weirs. Additionally, Mr. Isenhour noted that they have difficulty keeping leaves out of the facility as it is surrounded by trees. They do have screens covering the basins, but frequent manual removal of leaves from basins is necesarry. Comment: Disinfection-Tablet Yes No NA NE Are tablet chlorinators operational? Comment: Other Yes No NA NE The facility does not keep a portable generator on site, however there are several avaliable for use that are kept at the Water Quality Labs office in case of an extended power outage.
