This letter is in response to your letter of October 30, 2023, regarding the status of Martin
Marietta Materials' NPDES Permit No. NCO089168 ("Permit") for the Vanceboro Quarry and
your pending NPDES renewal application. The Permit was originally issued on July 24, 2013,
with an effective date of September 1, 2013 and an expiration date of August 31, 2018.
Because Martin Marietta submitted a timely renewal application received on February 27,
2018, the Permit remains in effect pursuant to 15A NCAC 021-1.0112, and Martin Marietta is
authorized to discharge under the Permit.
Now that the contested case relating to this Permit has been resolved, DWR will process
Martin Marietta's renewal application in the normal course.
Please note that Federal regulations require electronic submittal of all discharge monitoring
reports (DMRs) and program reports. The final NPDES Electronic Reporting Rule was
adopted and became effective on December 21, 2015. The permittee shall report discharge
monitoring data electronically using the NC DWR's Electronic Discharge Monitoring Report
(eDMR) internet application.
