REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION: STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
Dear Mr. Snyder:
On August 7, 2007, the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) issued a 401 Water Quality
Certification to conduct the following impacts to carry out the proposed 44-acre quarry
expansion:
• 0.099 acres of 404/wetland,
• 981inear feet of perennial stream,
• 3791inear feet of intermittent stream, and
• 14,520 square feet of Zone 1 Neuse River basin protected riparian buffers and 9,680
square feet of Zone 2 Neuse River basin protected riparian buffers
On September 21, 2007, the DWQ received a stormwater management plan for this project. The
DWQ has determined that the stormwater management plan was incomplete as discussed below.
Please provide the following information so that the DWQ may continue to review this project.
Additional Information Requested:
Please provide an overall site plan that clearly shows the location of the proposed
excavated basin on the overall site. This site plan should show the drainage area draining
to the basin as well as the receiving water that will ultimately receive the discharge of the
excavated basin.
2. The discharge from the excavated basin is required to be non-erosive (less than two feet
per second during the ten-year storm event). Please show that this has been achieved.
3. Depending on the location of the receiving water, it maybe necessary to provide diffuse
flow. Please contact the DWQ 401 Oversight/Express Unit to discuss this requirement.
