Dear Ms. Eplin,
Attached is a notification that fecal coliform (FC) exceeded the benchmark at one outfall
(SDO-1) and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) exceeded at the other outfall (SDO-3) at the Ashe
County Landfill on November 21, 2023. A field inspection was performed which concluded
that the source of FC is likely not industrial activities rather originated from animal waste.
Improvements to a riser/skimmer basin are planned to be performed in the SDO-3 drainage
area in an effort to decrease TSS levels. Ashe County will continue to follow conditions
outlined in their permit. Please contact Mr. Scott Hurley(owner) or myself(consultant) if you
