Document 600/4-85/013 entitled "The Acute Toxicity of Effluents co Freshwater and Marine Organisms'. The monitoring shall be performed as a Daphnia pulox or Ceriodaphnia 48 hour static test, using effluent collected as a single grab sample. Effluent samples for self -monitoring purposes must be obtained below all waste treatment. Sampling and subsequent testing will occur during the first five discrete discharge events after the effective date of this permit. After monitoring of the first five toxicity tests, the permittee will conduct one test annually, with the annual period beginning in January of the next calendar year. The annual test requirement must be performed and reported by June 30. If no discharge occurs by June 30, notification will be made to the Division by this date. Toxicity testing will be performed on the next discharge event for the annual test requirement. The parameter code for this test if using Daphnia pulex is TAA3D. The parameter code for this test if using Ceriodaphnia is TAA3B. All toxicity testing results required as part of this permit condition will be entered on the Effluent Discharge Form (MR-1) for the month in which it was performed, using the appropriate parameter code. Additionally, DEM Form AT-1 (original) is to be sent to the following address: Attention: Technical Services Brimch North Carolina Division of Environmental Management P.O. Box 27687 Raleigh, N.C. 27611 Test data shall be complete and accurate and include all supporting chemical/physical measurements performed in association with the toxicity tests, as well as all dose/response data. Total residual chlorine of the effluent toxicity sample must be measured and reported if chlorine is employed for disinfection of the waste stream. Should any test data from either these monitoring requirements or tests performed by the North Carolina Division of Environmental Management indicate potential impacts to the receiving stream, this permit may be re -opened and modified to include alternate monitoring requirements or limits. NOTE: Failure to achieve test conditions as specified in the cited document, such as minimum control organism survival and appropriate environmental controls, shall constitute an invalid test. Failure to submit suitable test results will constitute a failure of permit condition. 7Q10 1 jdul cfs Permitted Flow 1fa►r ;able IWC% MGD Recommende-J by: Basin & Sub -Basin 430617 Receiving Stream r r County Date 7/2G3R **Acute Toxicity(Daphnid 48 hr) Monitoring, EPISODIC, See Part Conditioner. - 1-7199 l Cape- dear Rt1er I Terenc Cvtl7tr1 o./ ,nonerq A / rt reGft4s SuGi _ AI A't" qf Vjulnl.S I c9 w0.Stwa'tiG IP_aU+ 'It. 1Gcu[ am fwo1►[7vre.,J _ ! 11 CCO M IYU A Z/^' a n yl 1 CY (40 i- m O lD S t n to r r r 4-reA5e-, r_ - +oluone bef)z{ne_ y{e .c and. /0-01 be- dC)e7t on - . +ht- —SoMe Sci7eea2 as '.xGc roll[ vn_ ( 5 ciscek dischace even- ) ce0 e.ner au+sG 1ould b - (ace - % 7V- cm i TOr lMJS JU - _ - tact Or1 iv kIcGLA .3 SY1OL IJ 14A- C! Department of Natural Resources and Community Development Division of Environmental Management 7225 Wrightsville Avenue Wilmington, North Carolina 28403-3696 Atten: Mr. Edward Beck Environmental Technician Gentlemen: Enclosed are reports of the laboratory analyses on water samples taken on March 8, 1988 at the Exxon Company U.S.A. marketing terminal in Wilmington, North Carolina. These samples were taken in accordance with your letter of February 22, 1988. Please note that tanks 9, 11, 130 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32, and 33 were not sampled. These tanks did not contain a sufficient amount of water to allow a sample to be taken. These storage tanks accumulate water at a very slow rate and consequently are drained once a year, if even that often. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me at the letterhead address or on (713) 656-7752. Sincerely, i • `l i ii*; ti Richard J. Cieri 3298D °ERNI!
