The City of Statesville would like to request a Schedule of Compliance for Ammonia-Nitrogen Limitations. The City has been working to optimize ammonia-nitrogen reduction at the plant, but actual flow rates are substantially lower than plant capacity, and the City cannot guarantee future compliance as plant flows increase. A schedule is needed to determine what improvements are needed to comply with the new permit. 2. PFAS Monitoring:The City of Statesville requests that the influent and effluent monitoring requirements be delayed until six (6) months after EPA publishes a 40 CFR part 136 Final PFAS Method. This would be like other NPDES permits issued within the past year. 3. Attachments to fact sheets were not included in the courtesy copy. If any attachments contain pertinent information, the City of Statesville would like an opportunity to review. www.statesvillenc.net February 22, 2023 NCDEQ Gary Perlmutter, Environmental Specialist II Re: Draft NPDES Permit Renewal, FC Permit NC0031836 The City of Statesville executes a very good Pre-Treatment program and works with the local industries to keep them in compliance and will continue to do so moving forward. While the City of Statesville understands the need for the new parameters to be added, we would also like to have the opportunity to monitor and report for the new parameters so that we could review and determine the next steps regarding a major plant upgrade. Thank you for your time and attention. es egar , Andy Smith, Operations Manager Division of Water Resources
