General Project Information: a. Project Description: Hoke County High School is being replaced with a new high school. New facilities will consist of a new school building, tennis courts,parking lots,sidewalks and utilities. Many of the existing buildings and impervious areas will remain in use. b. Utilities: Water and sewer service will be provided by Hoke County Utility Dept. Hoke County Board of Education will maintain the water and sewer lines on the property. 4. Drainage and Design Criteria The parcel is not in a Water Supply Watershed and falls under the State's Stormwater Permitting Authority. Therefore,the runoff from the first inch of rain must be captured and treated and runoff from the 1 yr storm must be limited to pre-development levels. 5. Site Soils Information The soils information is based on report by ECS (soils consultant)and four soil borings and infiltration tests. Boring Surf El. Selected SCM Runoff from a portion of the building and parking areas will flow to 2 bioretention basins. Runoff from other portions of the building and parking areas will drain towards existing drainage structures. The bioretention basins will be constructed after the area draining to them has been stabilized. 7. Drainage Design Description a. Treatment As the attached spreadsheet shows,using the formula RO(1")=3630*Rd*Rv*A= Req Vol= 8,409 cf 7/27/2023 1 of runoff must be stored and treated. Two infiltration basins will be used to capture and treat runoff from the first inch. As the Hydraulic Calculations in Attachement B,show,the Avail Storage= 30,637 cf b. Peak flow reduction(1-yr) The storage volume for the SCM'S is sufficient,to attenuate the peak flow to pre-construction rates for the 1, 10& 100 year storm as shown below. 8. Drainage Design Analysis a. Design Methodology Appendix B, "Elements of Urban Stormwater Design"by HR Malcom,PE,NCSU was used as the basis for modeling the 1, 10,and 100 year storms and routing them through the bioretention area. NC Best Management Practices Chapter C.2 was used for the design of the infiltration areas. b. Draw Down The biorention media will have minimum infiltration rate of 1"per hour.Using half of that rate: Basins will draw down in Basin 1 28.5 hours. 1.19 days Basin 2 25.7 hours 1.07 days c.
