The site (hereinafter referred to as the project area) is located on the east side of NC Highway 55 Bypass and north of Sportsmanship Way in Holly Springs, North Carolina. The project area consists of one parcel totaling twenty acres owned by Wake County (Wake PIN 0649894163). The project area is shown on the attached U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) 7.5-minute Apex, NC topographic quadrangle (Figure 1). The subject property vicinity contains commercial, light industrial, residential, recreational, and forested land uses. The project area is primarily forested with young to mature mixed pine -hardwood forest; most of the forested portion of the project area consists of young pines. The remainder of the project area contains a sanitary sewer and natural gas pipeline easement. Based on a field reconnaissance of the project area, there are no structures present within the project area. Figure 2 depicts the project area on an aerial photograph. NRC conducted a review of SHPO's HPOWEB 2.0 website for the subject property. No historic structures were identified within 0.25-mile of the subject property (Figure 2). We are requesting consultation regarding the project's impact to cultural resources. If you should have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at (919) 422-3605 or burdette@nrconsultnc.com.
