Short Title: Jordan State Forest Funds. (Public)

2 AN ACT APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO DEVELOP THE JORDAN STATE
3 FOREST IN CHATHAM COUNTY.
4 Whereas, the B. Everett Jorclan Lake was developed within Chatham
5 County by the United States Army Corp of Engineers; and
6 Whereas, an integral part of the Jordan Lake project was the
7 establishment of the Jordan State Forest, consisting of approximately 900 acres; and
Whereas, the land for the forest was acquired when the land for Jordan
9 Lake was acquired; and
10 Whereas, the purpose of the State Forest is the education of school
11 children and the general public about our forests through appropriate exhibits and
12 interpretive materials; Now, therefore,
13 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
14 Section 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the
15 Department of Natural Resources and Community Development, Forest Resources
16 Division, the sum of four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) for the 1987-88 fiscal
17 year for the continued development of the Jordan State Forest in Chatham County.
18 Sec. 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 1987.
