Dear Mr. Morris:
In reviewing our records regarding the completion of recreation areas at
Jordan and Falls Lakes, we find that we are lacking acceptance letters from
the State for several of the areas that have been completed and turned over to
tne State for operation and maintenance.
We realize that the developed areas have been in operation for various
lengths of time, from 1982 through the opening of Parkers Creek and Sandling
Beach in 1986. However, for administrative purposes, it is advantageous for
both the State and the Corps to have formal turnover letters, transferring
responsibilities for each area from Corps to State management. Our records
indicate that, to date, we have received State acceptance letters for Vista
Point and the Crosswinds Marina breakwater structure at B. Everett Jordan.
Acceptance letters are also needed on the Jordan Crosswinds Boat Launch Area,
State Forestry Site, Farrington Boat Launch Area, Crosswinds Marina, and
Parkers Creek Recreation Area, Similarly, formal acceptance is needed for the
Falls Lake Highway 50 Recreation Area, Rolling View Marina, Upper Barton
Creek, Eno River, Ledge Rock, Hickory Hill, and Sandling Beach.
Please review your files and return acceptance letters on those sites if
you have not done so. If letters have been furnished, please furnish
copies.
Thank you for your assistance in this natter.
Sincerely,
C. E. Shuford, Jr.
