Mitigation Sites
Dear Mr. King:
This letter is in reference to the Halifax- Northampton Regional Airport Mitigation Sites that
were restored to offset impacts from the construction of this Airport. The sites are proposed to
restore by replanting a 1.5 -acre on -site wetland and a 7.25 -acre riparian buffer along a 1,485
linear foot section of two perennial streams located on Airport property south of SR 1619.
Wetland and stream mitigation was required as a condition of the Division of Water Resources'
(DWR) issuance of DWR #2004 -0639.
On March 5, 2015, Craig Brown and Jean Gibby with the U.S. Corps of Engineers met with
Edward Smail with Michael Baker International to review the two mitigation sites. Based on the
review of the information provided in the 2014 (year 7) Mitigation Monitoring Report; the
summary of the site visit provided by Craig Brown via email on March 24, 2015; the
conservation documents provided by Edward Smail via email on April 16; and the photographs
provided by Edward Smail via email on September 22, 2015, the DWR has determined that the
wetland and stream mitigation requirements of DWR #2004 -0639 have been met and no further
monitoring is required.
