IV.ADDITIONAL REGIONAL STAFF REVIEW COMMENTS/ATTACHMENTS(Optional/If Needed)
During the site visit, DWR staff observed the test pits that were created for the Septic and Drain field. DWR
staff contacted Catawba County Environmental Health staff to eft information regarding soil type in the septic
and drain field prosed area. Mr. Steven Price of Catawba County Health indicated the soil type was not
Saprolitic in nature. The conversation with Mr. Price indicated that the septic tank and the drain field were to
be installed in soil profiles 4, 5, 7, &8. To a depth of 19"on the downhill side of the property. The soil type
was determined to be a Sandy Loam. A standard septic tank and drain field are to be installed to handle
residential wastewater.
The repair area is in soil profiles 1 &2. The soils in these pits are Saprolitic soils and the recommended
rgpair area would be subsurface drip irri ag tion.
Since the soils in the area closest to the infection well are not being characterized as Saprolitic, the setbackfor
the geothermal wells is 50 feet for the septic and drain field and the proposal meets that setback.
The property has a water supply well. The Well Tag information is below:
