Subject: Compliance Evaluation Inspection
Single Family Residence
General Wastewater Permit No.NCG550071
Davie County
Dear Ms.Warner:
Jenifer Carter of the Winston-Salem Regional Office performed a Compliance Evaluation Inspection on the
wastewater treatment system at your residence in Davie County,North Carolina on October 4,2005. This type of
inspection consists of two basic parts: a review of self-monitoring data, and an on-site inspection of the facility and its
discharge.
You hold a General Permit to discharge domestic wastewater from a single family residence under the National
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System(NPDES). You are found to be in compliance with your General Permit No.
NCG550244.
As a reminder, your permit states that you must also conduct and document the
following maintenance activities:
- Septic tanks shall be maintained at all times to prevent seepage of sewage
- Septic tanks will be checked at least yearly to determine if solids must be removed
- Septic tanks shall be pumped out every 3-5 years. You stated that you have never had your septic tank
pumped out. It is suggested that you do so to avoid potential problems with your system. Please have
receipts for service available for inspection.
- Contents removed from septic tanks shall be disposed of at a location and in a manner compliant with all
local and state regulations.
- Disinfection apparatus shall be inspected weekly. Chlorine tablets were not present during the inspection.
Please make sure the chlorinator tubes are being inspected regularly, and that theproper size and type of
tablets are being used. Please have receipts for purchase of tablets available for inspection.
There was no evidence of wastewater discharge at the effluent pipe, and the creek bed was dry as well. Please
refer to your permit for monitoring requirements. If you notice any future discharge, please monitor accordingly for the
effluent characteristics listed in Part I Section A of your permit. If you have any questions, please contact Ms.Carter or
me at(336)771-4600.
Sincerely,
CgAt. 1
