Box 1890 Wilmington, North Carolina 28402 Dear Mr. Vithalani: The Division of Parks and Recreation has reviewed the Design Memorandum #33, Crosswinds Campground and finds it acceptable with the following comments: 1) The courtesy dock design is the same as that built at Vista Point. This design has already proven to be a maintenance headache. Please investigate another design or make improvements to this one such as additional piles to secure dock, increase height of piles to minimize floating off characteristics, some other non-binding pile sleeve design. 2) Please incorporate buildings with eaves as discussed in recent Corps/State meetings. 3) Add air nipples to plumbing for winterization. 4) Designate and improve one washhouse for winter use and modify as appropriate. 5) Indicate on campsite layout detail that all joints are rough mitered not just site entrance radius timbers as interpreted by Poplar Point contractor. 6) Extend minimum length of typical campsite spur road to 95'.
