During the excessive rain event, totaling 5.53 inches of precipitation, which occurred on December 26, 2023, we received the high-level alarm alert at 8:40 a.m. and arrived on scene at 9:05 a.m. We immediately reached out to our local contractor to request pump trucks to haul grey water and alleviate the pressure on the pumps. We kept pumping and hauling until we were sure that the station was able to manage the flow. We released the pumping contractor at 11 pm. To minimize overflow situations, we are continually working to find and remove the I&I from our collection system, through dye testing, smoke testing and CCTV work. In 2023, the Town received a $400,000 AIA Grant, from NCDEQ-DWI, to conduct a pipe condition assessment (PCA) of basins 61, B2 & A3, which includes this pump station. We are currently under contract with Trans -State Construction Company to conduct smoke testing and CCTV work to help identify problem areas, with a particular focus on the main sewer lines entering the pump station on Thunder Road. Additionally, we will utilize funding from our current operational budget to address the top priority manholes and lines identified in this study and rehabilitate them. We will also apply in the DWI's Spring funding round for additional funding to further replace and rehab portions of our collection system to further reduce I&I in our system. We are also working with SDG Engineering to update our software abilities to be able to better manage our system through ArcGIS online. We have been taking photos and videos during both dry and wet conditions to better understand and document conditions, so we know better where to focus our attention. Having online access to this critical system information available in the field will be a great asset to the Town. Thanks, Assistant Public Works Director/ORC Alan Greene Jr 7
