Hi Daniel, I hope this email finds you well. I am the Director of the Clay County Water & Sewer District and I am emailing in regards to the Notice of Violation we received back in November of 2023. We exceeded our limit of Fecal Coliform on 11-4-23 and this was due to both blowers at our wastewater plant going down. We had to replace the compressor on one and had to replace the starter on the other and each is working properly now. We also blew our permit on Fecal Coliform as well as Nitrogen levels on 11-18-23. Upon investigation we learned that our chlorine pump was working when samples were collected first thing in the morning and between that time and the time the remaining samples were collected the pump had gone down while we were away from the plant. Upon arrival back to the plant the guys noticed that the pump had stopped working having lost pressure in the line and so the hose feeding chlorine to the pump as well as the line itself which supplies the chlorine to the plant was replaced along with the internal spring inside the pump. Once these replacements and improvements were made the pump as well as all lines and hoses have been working properly. Let me know if you have any additional questions and I’ll be happy to provide any additional feedback as necessary. Thank you, Dusty Beal Clay County Water & Sewer District (828) 389-1361 Sent from my iPhone ________________________________ Email correspondence to and from this address may be subject to the North Carolina Public Records Law and may be disclosed to third parties by an authorized state official.
