Hi Ori,
I hope you are doing well this morning. Please see the answers to your questions below and the updated construction
sequence we will provide on the plans. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or need any other
information.
The size of the existing manual bar screen is the same size as the proposed manual bar screen (3’ height, 1’ 7 1/2” total
width, opening 1” and bars to be 3/8”). Currently the existing headworks equipment is not functional, and the plant
relies on the existing manual bar screens. There is an existing manual bar screen in each channel. The bar screen will be
cleaned once per day, during the week. The visitation requirements for the plant are five days per week. The bar screen
will be able to hold flows during a long weekend, as the plant is currently operating in this fashion. It is estimated that
the plant will operate with one screen for approximately two months, one month per channel. We have updated the
construction sequence to require the contractor provide telemetry monitoring and highwater alarms with a dialer.
GENERAL CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE PLAN FOR THE AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL SCREENS:
1. CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL LEVEL MONITORING WITH A DIALER AND HIGHWATER ALARMS.
2. REMOVE EXISTING AUTOMATIC SCREENS AND EXISTING CONTROL PANEL.
3. INSTALL THE PROPOSED MANUAL BAR SCREENS AND THEN REMOVE EXISTING MANUAL BAR SCREENS.
4. CONTRACTOR SHALL MONITOR FOR AND REMOVE SCREENINGS FROM MANUAL BAR SCREENS ONCE PER DAY
DURING THE WEEK. NOTIFY OWNER WHEN CONTRACTOR WILL NOT BE ONSITE TO REMOVE SCREENINGS.
5. INSTALL THE PROPOSED AUTOMATIC SCREENS ONE AT A TIME WHILE ENSURING AT LEAST ONE CHANNEL
REMAINS OPEN AT ALL TIMES. MAINTAIN USE OF THE MANUAL BAR SCREEN AT ALL TIMES. TEE OFF OF
EXISTING WATER SERVICE AND RUN PVC SCH. 80 WATER LINE TO PROPOSED SCREENS FOR SPRAY SYSTEM.
CONCURRENTLY, PERFORM ALL ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL WORK SHOWN ON PLANS THAT DOES NOT
REQUIRE ANY EXISTING EQUIPMENT TO BE OUT OF OPERATION. ALL ELECTRICAL WORK IN THIS CATEGORY
SHALL BE COMPLETED, APPROVED, AND READY FOR FINAL INSTALLATION PRIOR TO ANY WORK ON THE
HEADWORKS EQUIPMENT IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE DOWNTIME.
6. INSTALL PROPOSED SS 316 METAL PLATE AND HOPPER BINS.
7. PERFORM STARTUP AND TESTING IN COORDINATION WITH AUTOMATIC SCREEN MANUFACTURER. ONCE NEW
AUTOMATIC SCREENS ARE APPROVED BY MANUFACTURER, ENGINEER, AND OWNER, PLACE THE SYSTEM IN
SERVICE AND TURN OVER TO OWNER.
Thanks,
Carolyn Hawkins, PE, PMP

Hi Carolyn,
Looking over the application and the revised application, so far everything looks good. Some more clarification regarding
the construction sequencing and operations at the WWTP at the time of construction. Such as the size of the manual bar
screen that will stay in operation (and how often it needs to be cleaned), what is the visitation requirement for the
plant, and will the bar screen be able to hold flows (especially during a long weekend), Once construction starts how
long will the plant be operating with one bar screen, is there telemetry monitoring of the influent flows and highwater
alarms etc.
Sincerely,
Ori

Hi Ori,
Attached are the completed ATC pages for the Hertford WWTP that we previously discussed and the additional
calculations to go along with it. I apologize for the delay in getting this over to you.
Please let me know if you need anything else.

Hi Ori,
I hope you are doing well. I would be able to send you an electronic copy of the ATC. Could you please confirm the ATC
you are referring to is for the Hertford Wastewater Treatment Plant? Hertford currently has two projects, one at the
WTP and one at the WWTP, that we just submitted ATC permits for and I want to make sure that I send you the correct
one.
Thanks,
