Mason Sent: Wednesday, December 13, 2023 4:17 PM To: Steffens, Thomas A ; Sprinkle, Hannah H; Lane, Stephen Cc: Giles, Jon W Subject: R-3300B Caison Drive Driveway Extension Attachments: NCDOT Caison Drive Parcels.pdf, R-3300B_Caison_Driveway_Construction_Revision.pdf Good afternoon all, During ROW acquisition for R-3300B the Department had to purchase 3 commercial parcels on west side of Caison Drive off of US 17 at the Northern Interchange due to impacts associated with the interchange (see attached NCDOT Parcel Figure for parcel locations). These parcels are currently being used for the Conti field office and the warehouse on the back parcel is being utilized by NCDOT. The Division has determined that this site and existing warehouse would be an excellent location for a NCDOT maintenance satellite yard for Pender County. In order to maintain access to these remnant parcels during and after construction, the driveway will need to be extended parallel to US 17 for approximately 1500 ft as shown in the attached figure (R-330013 Caison Driveway Extension Revision). The proposed driveway extension requires no additional ROW, will not require any additional clearing or utility relocations and have no additional impacts to jurisdictional resources. It is proposed within the existing disturbed area of the project. Please review this information and let me know if your agency has any concerns with this proposed revision. Since this proposal will have no new impacts to jurisdictional resources we are not anticipating a need to modify the 404 or 401 permits issued to this project. However, we do understand that this will require review and approval from DCM from a federal consistency perspective. If there are no objections to this proposed revision, revised permit drawings showing the driveway will be provided for your records. In regards to the permit drawings, 8 roadway permit drawings and 1 utility permit drawing will need to be revised to show the driveway extension. Please let me know if you have preference of Oust receiving the applicable revised permit drawings or if you would prefer a new set of permit drawings for the entire project.
