Dear Mr. Werden:
On January 5, 2024, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) received a Representative
Outfall Status Request Form for the above referenced facility. That form indicates that the facility would like to
sample Stormwater Outfall HPE-1 as representative of Outfall HPE-2 and HPE-3. Based upon the information
submitted with the form, and inspections completed by NCDEQ staff during 2023, the representative outfall
request is hereby approved.
Note that representative outfall status does not apply to Qualitative Monitoring, which is still required at each
outfall. Representative outfall status likewise does not reduce sampling frequency or change the monitored
parameters. By receiving the representative outfall request, the facility can avoid sampling Outfall HPE-2 and
Outfall HPE-3 because they are represented by samples from Outfall HPE-1.
