This letter is written on behalf of the Buncombe County Schools to provide information
as to remedial action taken to the above referenced facility in reference to NOV letter
dated January 3, 2024 attached.

We had a 84 mg/l BOD on 11-6-23 over the daily maximum 45 mg/L limit.

This exceedance was most likely a result of cleaning products in the influent wastewater.
Heavy suds were observed and we added soda ash to the flow equalization chamber to
neutralize the incoming BOD load. We increased the aeration as well. The following
three weekly BOD samples for the month were compliant.
