M Gmail Mona Ellum <mona.ellum@ellumengineering.com> Request for Additional Information 2, Weaverville Pump Station and Force Main Improvements, Buncombe County (DWR Project #20231456) Hales, Jason C. <halesjc@cdmsmith.com> Wed, Jan 17, 2024 at 1:34 PM To: Mona Ellum<mona.ellum@ellumengineering.com>, "Mason, William" <MasonWR@cdmsmith.com>, "Nance -Gonzalez, Rebecca N." <NanceGonzalezRN@cdmsmith.com>, "Pollard, Michael A." <pollardma@cdmsmith.com> We are using natural restoration at all three of the impacts (S10, S13, and S15) and at all of our proposed temporary stream impacts. Restoration will primarily be matting and seed, and then be maintained for future access, but there are a few places where we will have temporary stream impacts outside of our planned maintained easements that will be planted with live staking of woody species. This applies to areas at Impacts S9, S10, S19, S20, S21, and S22. Detail E/Sheet CD-5 shows both woven coir fiber mat and live staking of woody species. We could have maybe included one w/o the live staking for the maintained easements but this detail does show both. I tried to word it the best I could without a separate detail. Here's the text from the PCN update letter: "Temporarily impacted stream banks in the maintained easements will be restored through regrading, seeding, and woven coir fiber mat, and then be maintained for future maintenance access. Temporarily impacted stream banks outside of the maintained easements (applies to S9, S10, S19, S20, S21, and S22) will be restored through regrading, seeding, woven coir fiber mat, and live staking of deep-rooted native species (typical details shown on sheet CD-5)." Specifically to the ones Andrew asked about: Just S10 — Would have both. Live staking outside of the planned permanent easement and only matting and seed within the planned permanent easement. Clip below. S13 and S15 are within planned permanent easements and will receive only matting and seed, and be maintained in the future. S10 — area in blue would be planted with live staking of woody species. The rest would be only matting and seed. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/3/?ik=24d6867d 1 6&view=pt&search=all&permmsgid=msg-f:1 788363657752811057&simpl=msg-f:1 7883636577528110... 1/3 1/22/24, 8:43 AM Ellum Engineering Inc.
